We engage with independent valuers and gemmologists for their expert opinions and provide you with all the information you need to insure your item for its full value.
A valuation certificate is completed by an independent jewellery valuer. All of our valuers are registered with the National Council of Jewellery Valuers (NCJV) and are qualified Gemmologists. The valuation certificate is a legal document that includes a detailed description of the item, a photograph and value based on the current market factors, such as the US exchange rate and gold price.
In the instance of a claim, a valuation certificate can provide our team of claim validators all of the information they need to complete the replacement assessment of your item, and can also provide your jewellery consultant with the necessary information to source a suitable replacement to your liking or have your piece recreated.
Valuation certificates are especially important when insuring your item, as the price is calculated to represent the insurance replacement value which you should specify your item for. Given how much the market fluctuates, we recommend taking your jewellery items to be cleaned, inspected and valued every 2-3 years, and be sure to update your policy.
Phenix also recommends booking a 3D scan of your item, for the peace of mind that comes in knowing there is a securely stored digital copy of your item should you require it.
